Does anyone have any good examples of recent major news events that have been broken by bloggers before the news media picked up the stories?

    How about Monica having sex with the president? That was broken by Matt Drudge. But, of course, that’ll start a whole argument about whether or not Matt is doing a weblog.

    I think that a few weblogs were given credit for breaking the Trent Lott story (the speech at Strom Thurmond’s birthday party) a few months ago.
