@Selva

The short answer is that we don’t have a pre-built Java portal integration. If the portal software that they are using has a portlet that you can embed an IFRAME into, then we have really easy ways to integrate our readers. We also have customers who have used our APIs to integrate into Java portals.

As for the category question. It’s not clear what you mean by “dynamically,” but I'll venture a guess. I think you are asking about functionality similar to our tag-based smart feeds, where users can create persistent keyword searches based only on publisher categories and user-entered tags. We also have an API here for you to interact with NGES.

Howdy Y'all,

Watch out for PhotoBucket. They have some nice features, enough that I went for the 25 bucks yearly offering BUT.... their moderators kept deleting pics, even though I uploaded nothing with adult content.

If one of their cubical-dwelling politically correct moderators disagrees with something, your pic is gone with the wind. Even a pic that pokes fun at something politically correct it will likely be banished.

Too much subjective censorship there. I would not have been fearful to show my collection to anybody; law enforcement, a church deacon, even little kids BUT.... irk some brainwashed politically-correct buffoon bored in their cubical and, poof!!!!! gone is your pic.

Who needs some likely uneducated self-centered buffoon to lord over you that way?

I removed all my pics and ignored their recent notice that it's time to renew.

Uh huh, right. As if I am going to support censorship and political correctness!!!!!!

Bye bye, PhotoBucket. I will do without before I ever utilize your service again.

An alternate approach that may work for many (it does for us at the Denver Art Museum) is to simply point the iPhone at the external IP address / host name for Outlook Web Access. True, on the internal LAN you're going to take a trip outside to get to the internal server, but it should always work.

@Bob - good point; this is actually the case with any internal feeds that aren't accessible to the internet.

However - there are versions of all of the clients (including FeedDemon and NetNewsWire) that will actually sync with NGES, instead of syncing with NewsGator Online; when configured that way, clippings feeds will sync just like any other feed.

Greg,

Nice video. You mentioned subscribing to the RSS feed of a NGES Clippings folder. It should be noted that if someone tries subscribing using FeedDemon (or, I suppose, NetNewsWire), it will only work if the feed is placed in a folder that isn't sync'd with Newsgator Online.

This question might not be relevant to the topic posted, but wanted to get clarification.

Does Newsgator have any support for Java/J2EE Portlet? Also does it have any in-built J2EE Portlets?

One more question, Can we dynamically create "Category"? like allowing the user to enter a category and then retrieving feeds from various sites based on that?

I have been in sales for a long time and am always open to new ideas regarding cold calling. One thing that works for me when you get the prospect on the phone for the first time is this: "John? Blah Blah with XYZ Company. I bet I caught you at a bad time." This is not what anyone expects from someone cold calling. If they say "yes" then ask them when a better time to call would be. If they say "No, not too busy," then do your thing!

I have learned recently that doing the opposite of what the prospect expects is the best thing to do (throughout the whole sales process).

Peace!
