NewsGator and 618 weblogs

Over the weekend, Scoble talked about how he uses NewsGator to read 618 weblogs and feeds. Wow! If he tries out the search folders with NewsGator in Outlook 2003 (as mentioned here), he’ll probably like it even better.

After reading Scoble’s post, Craig Burton decided to give NewsGator a try. Craig says:

I downloaded Newsgator and played with it for a while. I really like it. So far I only have about 70 feeds to watch.

I then worked on Amphetadesk for a while. It took me longer to set up 25 feeds in Amphetadesk than it did the 70 in Newsgator.

That’s what I like to hear! :-)

Actually the perfect combination is turning out to be Outlook 2003, NewsGator and X1. I have several hundred feeds coming in now to NewsGator, including several feedster topic feeds. I started using Outlook search folders, but they didn’t give me enough flexibility for on the fly queries. I’ve now added X1, and it’s amazing.

At any point in time, I have over 20000 objects in Outlook, and with X1 I can enter any topic and find instant references. Actually I’m a big OneNote fan too, as it has a lot of potential, but the power of X1 is driving me back toward notes, journal and straight files on the desktop. Too soon to tell on that yet, but it’s amazing what instant access to anything creates in the form of power and creativity stimulators.
