Sounds to me like there is an issue with the software behind the service that will continue to mess up the customers data in a seemingly unrecoverable way. It sounds like they have taken those users offline until they can figure out what is broken and fix it rather than let the users trundle on only to be greeted with no e-mail or other data in the service.

No doubt they let all the server admins go on leave at the same time ;) I'm on Windows (I know, I know) and I've been experimenting with MobileMe over the past week. I initially found it very frustrating but can't see any alternative except Exchange (which I can't use because I need Outlook to work with my organisation's Exchange server and get my personal calendar stuff). I eventually worked around the bugs enough to get it working fairly well, although I still seem to have some inconsistencies in the syncing. I'd say the big thing that's missing is that I can't publish my MobileMe calendars. Absolutely loving the iPhone 2.0 firmware though, including NetNewsWire of course.
