    Odd how Dave doesn’t tell us why he’s so against the idea. The only clue he gives is “then it’s email” - but he’s missing the whole opt-in spamless subscription thing.

    It’s just another one of his usual tactics. Start calling something a bad name and thus plant the seed in others minds that there must be something wrong with it. Essentially work to sully their brand value by calling their work ‘funky’. Then whittle away at it offering up that others ‘are not funky’. Thus casting the sites as opposites to further damage their reputation. This while misleading the ‘not funky’ sites into thinking Dave’s doing them a favor with the fake publicity.

    It’s petty, mean and yet another typically unfounded bit of nonsense from Winer. Fortunately, smart folks aren’t fooled. It’s just the newbies that suffer from being misled.
